health2 and part of health is nurturing our bodies with good food and drinks. I’m excited to share what I’ve learned on my journey to healthy living, with a focus on juice and smoothie recipes in each issue.

To be clear, I’m not a medical or health expert, but I’ve done a lot of research and am excited to share what’s worked for me to improve my health and overall wellbeing when it comes to food and nutrition the Easy, Breezy way. One thing that I’ve come to appreciate is the importance of an alkaline body. Simply stated, acidity and alkalinity are measured in terms of pH on a scale of 0 – 14. A pH over 7 is considered alkaline, and a pH under 7 is considered acidic, with a pH of 7 being neutral. When our bodies are acidic, it creates an environment where disease and health issues can manifest. You can purchase saliva pH tester strips at your local drugstore.

Green drinks are a great way to keep your pH in the alkaline range. I know many scrunch their noses when they think about a “green” juice or smoothie, but I’ve found them to be very tasty and enjoyable. Below, I’ve shared the recipe for one of the first green smoothies I tried. Simply blend the ingredients together and enjoy. As a side note, my favorite blender is the Vitamix, which allows you to make smoothies, soups, and more, with or without ice.

For the next 30 days, try drinking a smoothie every morning for breakfast instead of your typical meal, and let me know how you feel by the end of the 30 days!
